Warning!
Don't be taken in by any of the many scam offers that continue to haunt working fishing guides and the general public as well. If you have a website and email your are going to get these offers by unscrupulous criminals with no intent other than to separate you from your money. Be careful when considering any offer that sound too good to be true. Capt. Danny Guarino sent the sample below.
They often include misspellings, they request multiple days and offer credit card payment. As you can see in this case, the scam comes when they say they will send you your money plus money for an agent. You are asked to send a balance to a third party.
Below is a sample scam email and a possible response:
Original email: Notice it is not specifically addressed - it is likely sent out to thousands of recipients at a time. Good Day.
I am Dr Dave Davis form the United Kingdom,your boat for a relaxation trip for i and my family during our stay in your country. i did like this to be organized in a custom fashion as you will take us out for fishing or sight seeing.Mode of payment would be via credit card, i await the total cost for this including the cost of a skipper on board as soon as possible.
Hope your safety records are intact.
These are information about our booking.
Preferred Date of tour 22th,23th 24th August 2010{Three full days}, We are 3 in number.
Mode of payment,{Credit card}.
kindly total the cost of the three whole days and get back to me as soon as possible.

will send my credit card details to enable you process and secure our booking.
Once you receive my credit card details you are to process a total of $7,890.00. you will
then deduct the cost of your services which is $1890.00 and the other fund ($6000.00) would be sent to my logistic agent whom will be responsible for our
travel and accommodation needs, he runs a private and does note have the basic
facility to accept credit card payments.
Kindly confirm this arrangement
by providing your direct contact details and best time to call with my credit
card information.
